Her first novel was started after she came across a book that was filled with horrible characters and realized that she could do much better.
During her teens, Dohner wrote poetry and then shifted her focus towards writing short stories. The exposure to romance was so mesmerizing that she got hooked instantly. It was during her library visits that Dohner got acquainted with the works of Stephen King, Agatha Christie, John Saul, Richard Laymon, etc. At the age of 9, she had access to an adult library card, where she used to visit quite often. Dohner was very small when she had finished reading different series of novels, including Nancy Drew’s Pippi Longstocking, Trixie Beldon’s The Hardy Boys, The Borrowers, and several others.
However, she had a deep interest in reading different kinds of books. While growing up, she did not have even the smallest of hints that she would go on to make a career in the field of writing. As of now, Dohner resides in Southern California along with her loving husband and their four children.ĭohner claims to have always been a daydreamer and a great fan of books. This helps her to block the outside world and focus on creating worlds for her stories. Whenever Dohner sits down to write anything, she likes to put on her headphones and turn on loud music. Whereas in real life, there is always uncertainty and life keeps tossing things one after the other without our control over them. According to her, the best thing about writing is that you control things and make sure that there is always a happy ending. As a writer, Dohner is interested in writing all types of stories. Usually, Dohner tries to get at least 5 hours of sleep and spend the rest in working towards the development of her novels. The things that she is addicted to include an iced coffee and candy bars. She considers herself lucky to have spent more than 2 decades with her loving husband and looks forward to spending many more lovely years with him. In addition to being a full-time author, Dohner also performs the duties of a full-time mother and wife.
A few of her books have been written in collaboration with author Kele Moon. Dohner has also contributed a collection of short stories called Alien along with other authors such as Leora Gonzales, Tara Nina, and Jaid Black. She is well known for writing the VLG series, Night Pack series, Vorge Crew series, Veslor Mates series, Cyborg Seduction series, Zorn Warriors series, and the Mating Heat series.
